“Kankantri” Featured at Conch Shell International Film Festival 2024
The Conch Shell International Film Festival 2024, a Caribbean and Caribbean Diaspora film festival, will feature Gabri Christa’s KANKANTRI as part of their 2024 Official Selection. There will be two screenings, on Friday, October 11th at 5:00 PM and on Sunday, October 13th at 1:30 PM both at Regal UA Midway Cinema. The film will also be available online for the duration of the festival.
KANKANTRI is also nominated for BEST EXPERIMENTAL FILM!
Moving Body-Moving Image 2024
Moving Body-Moving Image MOVES with the times, ever evolving. This year we are not producing a festival, but hosting the Digital Black Dance Ecologies Laboratory, an initiative from Dr. Tia -Monique Uzor. The invitation only Lab will take place from October 11-13, 2024 at the Barnard College Movement Lab.
In addition to the Laboratory, Moving Body-Moving Image will curate a two week long public installation at the Movement Lab with works of some of the participating DBDE Laboratory artists / researchers from October 7 - 10 and October 14 - 18.
On Friday October 11 at 6pm, there will be an additional public screening of specially selected films around the black body and environmental justice and the black / brown body relating to ancestry and history.

Gabri Christa’s new film KANKANTRI has been accepted as part of the Official Jury Selection at kNOwBOX Film Festival and will be presented both online and internationally with screenings in Dallas, Texas; Seoul, South Korea; and Oaxaca, Mexico.
Workshop with Gabri Christa and "Sheila" Screening at Kenyon College
The Department of Dance, Drama and Film at Kenyon College welcomes guest artist Gabri Christa for a series of events Sept. 22 - 23. On Sunday September 22nd, Gabri will be leading a screendance seminar followed by a screening of her experimental documentary short Sheila and artist discussion. On Monday September 23rd, Gabri will teach a film and motion workshop.

Kankantri has been selected to be part of the Manifest Dance-Film Festival in Pondicherry, India, South Asia’s only international dance-film festival. The festival calls Gabri’s film: “A Magic Surealism Docu Dance Film”
Kankantri at Festival de VideoDanza de Puerto Rico
Kankantri has been selected to be part of the Festival Videodanza de Puerto Rico, which brings to Puerto Rico the best of international video dance and dance on screen! They aim to promote uncompromising work that explores synergies with other forms of motion, work that includes bodies that dance forgets and encourage work that explores the future of dance in dialogues with new forms of technology that are redefining the field of participation and access.

Gabri Christa’s new film KANKANTRI will be presented at Cinedans Fest in a program entitled “Breaking the Chains”. Cinedans FEST ’24 is a hybrid festival with the main festival programme accessible during both in-person events and through the Cinedans WEB.

Gabri Christa’s experimental documentary Sheila will be presented at the 2023 Women Over Fifty Film Festival (WOFFF2023) as part of their Experimental program. All 54 selected films for WOFFF will be available online from September 9, 2023-October 9, 2023 (Early Bird Festival Pass available until August 23rd). A not yet revealed curated selection of films will be screened in person at Depot, Lewes on Saturday September 23rd.

Gabri Christa’s new experimental documentary Sheila will be presented at the 2023 DC Black Film Festival as part of the “This Is What You Came For!” film block. The in-person screening will take place on Friday, August 18th at 5:10pm at The Miracle Theatre. Sheila will then be available online starting August 21st at 3:30 pm.
"Quarantine" at Dance (Lens) Festival, Australia
Gabri Christa’s work Quarantine will be touring Australia at the 2023 Dance (Lens) Festival as part of “Material Moves” curated by Siobhan Murphy, which will screen in person at Dancehouse on Thursday July 13th at 7:30pm. Quarantine will also be available On Demand from July 13th-31st, streaming with the other “Material Moves” curated films.

Gabri Christa’s experimental documentary Sheila will be presented at the 2023 Denton Black Film Festival as part of their “When We Move” program screened live at Alamo Drafthouse Theater 8 on Saturday, January 28, 2023 2:30 PM CST. Sheila will then be available for online screening until February 6th.

Gabri Christa is guest of honor at the 21st Annual Dance Camera West Festival, an international festival held in Los Angeles that presents the best dance films from around the world. On Saturday January 21st, Gabri will be leading a workshop and the festival closes with a presentation of Gabri’s films including her experimental documentary short Sheila and an artist discussion.

Gabri Facilitates Talkback after Kulunka Teatro's "André & Dorine"
From the Max Award-winning, internationally-acclaimed Kulunka Teatro, comes the unique theatrical event André & Dorine, running from April 27 - May 29, 2022 in a limited 5-week Off-Broadway engagement at Theatre at St. Clement's. This deeply emotional new work follows a pair of elderly artists as Alzheimer's forces them to relive and reinvent their love.
A post-show talkback will follow the Sunday, May 1 performance featuring experts on Alzheimer's along with the artists. Panelists include facilitator Gabri Christa, Georges Naasan, MD, and Garbiñe Insausti.
"Upwelling" available virtually and live at Wexner Center for the Arts
“Upwelling” is a visual and sonic poem assembled from messages shared across the globe by fellow artists living through the lockdowns and protests of 2020.
