March 3 through 31
Big Screen Project: Bar Basque
New York City 16 screening!
Big Screen Project. I have to say that this is really a great way to see dance on camera. I wasn’t sure at first, but Bar Basque is classy, the headsets are great, you can hang with your friends and have a drink (virgin or otherwise)/ DO order headsets ahead of time. It is all free, minus the drinks. All films are really wonderful.
The Big Screen Project (BSP) is the only outdoor venue in the Americas that offers video art, free of charge, from 8am to 10pm. DFA started providing dance film programs for BSP, in November, 2010. 5 dance on camera programs have been shown on BSP, a 30 x 16.5 ft. HD format LED screen set on a wall in a public plaza adjacent to the Eventi, a 54-story building on Sixth Avenue between 29th and 30th Street in New York City. BSP is viewable from 29th and 30th streets (close to 6th Avenue), the atrium, FoodParc, and Bar Basque. Headsets are available upon request from 1-5pm in FoodParc. Otherwise, requests should be made ahead of time by contacting Neil Sieling.
