A woman enters a place of worship and is transported to the parallel universe of all her ancestors who do not let her leave, until she participates in their dances and rituals, and exits integrated.
This is an essay film, a film that combines ART + documentary. Also seen as a hybrid dancefilm, screendance. KANKANTRI is shot on location in Suriname, South America. It's a post colonial response to a place and a dutch history of slavery and its consequences.
